5 day fast experience
I recently embarked on a five day fast. I drank nothing but water, tea and coffee. I grew interested in fasting after reading and learning about the numerous health benefits that scientist discovered in the last few years.
Some notes:
-
Total weight loss: 11 lbs.
-
On day one, I experienced no hunger until lunch time. The hunger lasted the rest of the day.
-
On subsequent days, I felt hunger the first couple hours in the morning. The hunger faded throughout the day. I believe my morning hunger pains may stem from me growing accustomed to a large breakfast throughout my life.
-
Surprisingly the hunger did not really grow worse throughout the fast. As in, the hunger I felt on the last day felt no worse than the hunger I felt on day one.
-
I never felt “enlightened” as others claimed they had. I did, however, consistently remain in a calm state and could maintain focus with ease.
-
I appreciated having the extra two to three hours in the day to accomplish more.
-
No noticeable loss in strength. I did continue to exercise during the fast.
-
So far, every meal I ate post fast contained smaller portions but nonetheless I felt content. Perhaps my stomach shrunk a bit.
-
I expect to gain some of the weight back quickly. I want to continue eating smaller portions and stop when I feel content rather than full. Hopefully this will keep the weight down and my health intact.
I found fasting tough but rewarding. I do always enjoy testing my willpower on occasion and feel happy that I succeeded. I will definitely consider fasting again in the future.
